So great to be able to capture some things I've thought about for
years. Here's a shot from the walk home from the playground.

Day 13 - No more late night sketching
Ok the take no prisoners pen was not kind the other night. Need to
make sure I schedule art time a bit earlier instead of when I'm ready
to crash.

Day 12 - A certain lack of perspective
Did this straight ahead without marking in any indications of relative
position. Can you tell!? Still kind of fun. And no, Rick doesn't
have quite so big of a head.

Day 7
Photoshop correction of reference photo day.... Nice not having to worry about a nice composite and just slap stuff together, since the final image will be a painting! Although seeing such a rough line just hurts my inner computer graphics artist.
This is actually about 20 feet from our house... maybe I'll actually get some time to sketch there before the summer ends.... It's a faux naturescape, but they did a really nice job. Even the wildlife approves - a family of ducks each year... Plus someone saw a bear in there last fall!
Oh and the good news - my pen fell out of the stroller when we loaded the car this morning! Must have gotten stuck in a fold...
Yippie! I did a whole week - 5 more weeks to go to make this habit forming...

Day 5
Testing pencil resist technique. Would be tricky to actually see what
you are doing if trying to preserve white areas, will have to try it
out on a real painting. Don't know how the matte with shiny mixed
media will look, I'm thinking I'm not going to like it....

Also working on Venice trip book before I completely forget!

Day 4
Read a bit about an interesting technique. Planning on trying it out,
but with different subject matter! Part is a resist over multiple
layers with white prisma color. Reminds me of making Russian Easter
eggs.

Yesterday was an unlucky day for the brush pen, it didn't make it back
to the car :(
Guess a trip to Opus is in order! :)

Lucky day 3
Finds me at the Harmony Arts Festival in Ambleside.
Got to sketch the Lion's Gate while listening to Puro Son. Can't Beat
that!
Like the brush pen, can't get all finicky like I usually do!

Day two
Amazing what some time in the studio can do.
Went in exhausted and pretty tired now afterwards, but while my brain was
occupied with the problem of drawing it didn't bother me a bit.
This is my favorite bottle of ink, bought in Paris in the early 90's.
Too pretty to open so slowly drying up....
Ink, prismacolor, acrylic (couldn't find my gold/brass pencil)
Next art day might be learning to control lighting for iPhone snaps!

Attempting to create a habit
So an art buddy and I decided to become art buddies!
(Like a diet buddy, but shedding inertia instead of pounds.)
We've agreed on an easy goal of just getting our bodies in our studios each day, even if we don't actually put brush to canvas/paper. So no more excuses - crazy schedule, needy toddler, health issues - I have at least a few min a day for my art.
They say it takes 6 weeks to create a habit. So for my official first day here is a test sketch
with my new brush pen!
